658 – Ja‘far ibn ‘Abd Allah informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Harun informed us; he said: Abu al-Rabi‘ related to us; he said: Abu ‘Awanah related to us, from ‘Umar—that is, Ibn Abi Salamah—from his father, who said: ‘Umar said: “By Him in whose hand is ‘Umar’s soul, if one of you were to point his finger toward a polytheist in the sky, then descend to him while he remained upon that state and kill him, I would execute him in retaliation for him.”
