643—‘Abd al-Rahman said: Abu ‘Abd Allah Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Zahrani narrated to us, saying: I heard al-Jawzajani—that is, Musa ibn Sulayman—when a man asked him about a legal question and he gave him a ruling. The man then said to him, “Al-Marisi holds the opposite view on this.” Al-Jawzajani said to those present: “Glory be to Allah! Have you ever heard anything more astonishing than this? He asked me about a legal question, and I answered him; then he cited to me the view of a disbeliever.”
