640—Abd al-Rahman related: Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Amr ibn Isa narrated to us; Ali ibn Musa al-Basri narrated to us; Sulayman ibn Isa al-Shajari narrated to us; Sahl al-Hanafi narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, who said:
“I entered upon Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, and he said to me, ‘Where are you from?’ I replied, ‘I am from the people of Balkh.’ He asked, ‘How far are you from the river?’ I said, ‘Such-and-such a number of farsakhs.’ He said, ‘Has a man called Jahm emerged from beyond the river?’ I replied, ‘No.’ He said, ‘A man called Jahm will emerge from beyond the river. He will lead many people of this Ummah to ruin; Allah will admit him and them into the Fire along with those who enter it.’”
٦٤٠ - وَذَكَرَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عِيسَى، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُوسَى الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى الشَّجَرِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا سَهْلٌ الْحَنَفِيُّ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ، قَالَ: " دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ فَقَالَ لِي: مِنْ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: مِنْ أَهْلِ بَلْخٍ , فَقَالَ: كَمْ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ النَّهَرِ؟ قُلْتُ: كَذَا وَكَذَا فَرْسَخًا , فَقَالَ: هَلْ ظَهَرَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ النَّهَرِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ جَهْمٌ؟ قُلْتُ: لَا , قَالَ: سَيَظْهَرُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ النَّهَرِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ جَهْمٌ يُهْلِكُ خَلْقًا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ يُدْخِلُهُمُ اللَّهُ وَإِيَّاهُ النَّارَ مَعَ الدَّاخِلِينَ "
