633 — Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim mentioned it, saying: I heard Ahmad ibn Abd Allah al-Sharani say: I heard Sa'id ibn Rahmah, a companion of Ishaq al-Fazari, say:
“Jahm—may Allah’s curse be upon him—emerged in the year 130 AH ⦗423⦘ and declared, ‘The Quran is created.’ When news of this reached the scholars, they regarded it as an enormity and unanimously agreed that he had uttered disbelief. The people then transmitted this judgment from them.”
٦٣٣ - ذَكَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الشَّعْرَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ رَحْمَةَ، صَاحِبَ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيِّ يَقُولُ: " إِنَّمَا خَرَجَ جَهْمٌ , عَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ , سَنَةَ ثَلَاثِينَ وَمِائَةٍ , ⦗٤٢٣⦘ فَقَالَ: الْقُرْآنُ مَخْلُوقٌ , فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ الْعُلَمَاءَ تَعَاظَمَهُمْ فَأَجْمَعُوا عَلَى أَنَّهُ تَكَلَّمَ بِالْكُفْرِ , وَحَمَلَ النَّاسُ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُمْ "
