Isa ibn Ali informed us: Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us; Dawud ibn Amr narrated to us; Abu Shihab narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Umarah, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, from Abd Allah ibn Masud.

Through another chain, al-A‘mash narrated to us, from Malik ibn al-Harith, from Umarah, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, from Abd Allah, who said: “Moderation in adhering to the sunnah ⦗62⦘ is better than strenuous effort in religious innovation.”
١٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ , أنبا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ , ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو , ثنا أَبُو شِهَابٍ , عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ عُمَارَةَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ , ح
١٤ - وثنا الْأَعْمَشُ , عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ , عَنْ عُمَارَةَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ: «الِاقْتِصَادُ فِي السُّنَّةِ ⦗٦٢⦘ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الِاجْتِهَادِ فِي الْبِدْعَةِ»
