545—Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Aqbasi informed us: Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Abdullah informed us: Sa'id ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to us: Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us, from Amr ibn Dinar, from Ikrimah, from Abu Hurayrah. [A parallel chain:]
546—And Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Bakran informed us: al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Uthman informed us: Ya'qub ibn Sufyan narrated to us: Abu Bakr ⦗368⦘ al-Humaydi narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us: Amr ibn Dinar narrated to us, who said: Ikrimah informed me, saying: I heard Abu Hurayrah say: Indeed, the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“When Allah decrees a matter in heaven, the angels beat their wings in submission to His word, as though it were a chain dragged across a smooth rock.”
He said:
“Then, when fear is banished from their hearts, they will say, ‘What has your Lord said?’ They will say, ‘The truth.’ And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”
Al-Bukhari transmitted it from al-Humaydi.
