512 — Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Humayd informed us: Ibrahim ibn Abd al-Samad related to us: Muhammad ibn al-Walid related to us: al-Qasim ibn Abi Sufyan related to us: Abd al-Samad ibn Muhammad ibn Habib ibn Abi Habib related to us from his father, from his grandfather, who said:
“I witnessed Khalid ibn Abd Allah al-Qasri deliver a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice. He said, ‘Whoever among you wishes to offer a sacrifice, let him go and do so. May Allah bless his sacrifice. As for me, I am sacrificing al-Jaʿd ibn Dirham, for he claimed that Allah did not speak directly to Moses and did not take Abraham as an intimate friend. Exalted is He, far above what al-Jaʿd says.’ Then he came down and slaughtered him.”
I said: This al-Qasim ibn Abi Sufyan was the son of Muhammad ibn Humayd al-Maʿmari. Qutaybah ibn Saʿid narrated this account from him and affirmed his reliability. Al-ʿAbbas ibn Abi Talib and al-Hasan ibn al-Sabbah al-Bazzar also narrated this account from him. ⦗353⦘ In the narration of al-Hasan and al-ʿAbbas, it states that he delivered this sermon to them in Wasit.
