501—Muhammad ibn Ubayd Allah ibn Yusuf informed us: Ahmad ibn Salman narrated to us; Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated to us: Abu al-Hasan Ibn al-Attar, Muhammad ibn Muhammad, told me: I heard Yahya ibn al-Sarraj say:
We were with Ibn Uyaynah when the people became agitated. Ibn Uyaynah asked, “What is this?” They replied, “Bishr al-Marisi has arrived.” He asked, “What does he say?” They replied, “He says that the Quran is created.” He said, “Bring me two witnesses, so that I may order the governor to execute him.”
٥٠١ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ قَالَ: ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ الْعَطَّارِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ السَّرَّاجِ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ , فَتَشَوَّشَ النَّاسُ , فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ: مَا هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: قَدِمَ بِشْرٌ الْمَرِيسِيُّ. قَالَ: مَا يَقُولُ؟ قَالُوا: يَقُولُ: الْقُرْآنُ مَخْلُوقٌ. قَالَ: جِيئُونِي بِشَاهِدَيْنِ حَتَّى آمُرَ الْوَالِيَ بِضَرْبِ عُنُقِهِ
