476 — Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim mentioned: Yusuf ibn Ishaq ibn al-Hajjaj narrated to us: Ahmad ibn al-Walid narrated to us: al-Qasim ibn Abi Raja’ narrated to us: “I was with Abu Sulayman al-Juzajani when a man came to him and said, ‘A troubling case has arisen: last night, two men swore oaths. One of them said, “My wife is irrevocably divorced from me by three pronouncements if the Quran is created,” while the other said, “My wife is divorced from me by three pronouncements if the Quran is not created.”’ He replied, ‘The one who swore that his wife would be divorced from him if the Quran were not created—his wife has been irrevocably separated from him.’”
