465—Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Nu'aym al-Hafiz informed us by authorization, saying: I heard Abu Muhammad al-Muzani say: I heard Yusuf ibn Musa say: “We were with Abu Ibrahim al-Muzani when I and some of our companions stepped forward to him and said: ‘We are a group from Khurasan, and among us there have arisen people who say that the Quran is created. We are not among those who delve into speculative theology, nor do we seek your legal verdict on this matter except for the sake of our religion and for those among us, so that we may convey your view to them.’”
Then we wrote down from him his response: “The Quran is the uncreated speech of Allah. Whoever says that the Quran is created is a disbeliever.”
٤٦٥ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْحَافِظُ إِجَازَةً قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُزَنِيَّ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ يُوسُفَ بْنَ مُوسَى يَقُولُ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُزَنِيِّ فَتَقَدَّمْتُ أَنَا وَأَصْحَابٌ لَنَا إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْنَا: نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مِنْ خُرَاسَانَ وَقَدْ نَشَأَ عِنْدَنَا قَوْمٌ يَقُولُونَ: الْقُرْآنُ مَخْلُوقٌ , وَلَسْنَا مِمَّنْ نَخُوضُ فِي الْكَلَامِ , وَلَا نَسْتَفْتِيكَ فِي هَذِهِ الْمَسْأَلَةِ إِلَّا لِدِينِنَا وَلِمَنْ عِنْدَنَا لِنُخْبِرَهُمْ عَنْكَ. ثُمَّ كَتَبْنَا عَنْهُ فَقَالَ: الْقُرْآنُ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ غَيْرُ مَخْلُوقٍ , فَمَنْ قَالَ: الْقُرْآنُ مَخْلُوقٌ فَهُوَ كَافِرٌ
