455 — Ahmad ibn Ubayd informed us: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn informed us: Ahmad ibn Zuhayr narrated to us: I heard my father say countless times, “The Quran is the speech of Allah, uncreated, and we know no other position than this.”

456 — I heard my father ask Yahya ibn Ma‘in, saying, “They claim that you say, ‘The Quran is the speech of Allah,’ and then remain silent, neither saying that it is created nor that it is uncreated. Is this so?” He replied, “No.” I asked him again, and he said, “Allah forbid! The Quran is the speech of Allah, uncreated. Whoever says otherwise, upon him is the curse of Allah.”
