Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Bakr informed us: Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Uthman related to us: Ya‘qub ibn Sufyan related to us: I heard Abu al-Walid Hisham ibn ‘Abd al-Malik say: Yahya ibn Sa‘id said, “Are you not astonished by these people? They say that ‘Say: He is Allah, the One’ [Surah al-Ikhlas 112:1] is created.”
Abu al-Walid said, “The Quran is the speech of Allah; speech is mentioned in the Quran, and speech is affirmed of Allah.”
Abu al-Walid said, “Whoever does not hold firmly in his heart that the Quran is not created has left Islam.”
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَكْرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ هِشَامَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ قَالَ: قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ: أَمَا تَعْجَبُ مِنْ هَذَا؟ يَقُولُونَ: ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ﴾ [الإخلاص: ١] مَخْلُوقَةٌ. قَالَ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ: الْقُرْآنُ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ , وَالْكَلَامُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَالْكَلَامُ فِي اللَّهِ. قَالَ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ: مَنْ لَمْ يَعْقِدْ قَلْبَهُ عَلَى أَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ لَيْسَ بِمَخْلُوقٍ فَهُوَ خَارِجٌ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ
