Sulayman al-A‘mash: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim mentioned him, saying: Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti related to us: When Abu Nu‘aym al-Fadl ibn Dukayn, Ahmad ibn Yunus, and their companions were subjected to the inquisition, Abu Nu‘aym remained steadfast and said: “I met seven hundred shaykhs”—he mentioned al-A‘mash, Sufyan, and their group—“and I did not hear any one of them make this statement”—meaning that the Quran is created—“except for one man.”
