391 — Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim mentioned it, saying: Isma'il ibn Salih al-Hulwani narrated to us; he said: Abu Dharr Bakr ibn Mughallis al-Marwazi narrated to us; he said: Ibrahim ibn Isma'il—or Ibrahim ibn Muhammad; Abu Dharr was uncertain—narrated to us; he said: Awf narrated to us, saying ⦗265⦘: Al-Hasan was asked about the Quran: “Is it the Creator or created?” He replied: “It is neither the Creator nor created; rather, it is the Speech of Allah.”
٣٩١ - ذَكَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ بَكْرُ بْنُ مُغَلِّسٍ الْمَرُّوذِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ أَوْ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ - الشَّكُّ مِنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ - قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ قَالَ ⦗٢٦٥⦘: سُئِلَ الْحَسَنُ عَنِ الْقُرْآنِ: خَالِقٌ أَوْ مَخْلُوقٌ؟ قَالَ: «مَا هُوَ بِخَالِقٍ وَلَا مَخْلُوقٍ , وَلَكِنَّهُ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ»
