367 — ‘Isa ibn ‘Ali informed us: ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us: Hudbah ibn Khalid narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from ‘Ammar ibn Abi ‘Ammar, who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Adam met Moses, and Moses said to Adam, ‘Are you the one whom Allah created with His Hand, settled in His Paradise, and for whom He commanded His angels to prostrate, yet you did what you did and caused your descendants to be expelled from Paradise?’

Adam said to Moses, ‘Are you the one whom Allah chose for His messages and His speech, and to whom He gave the Torah? Was I earlier, or was the Reminder?’ ⦗251⦘

He said, ‘Rather, the Reminder was earlier.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Thus Adam defeated Moses in argument.”
