359—Ahmad ibn Faraj al-Ḍarīr related: Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Hāshimī narrated to us; he said: My paternal uncle narrated to me; he said: I heard Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ say:
“Whoever claims that the Quran is created has claimed that something from Allah is created.”
I said, “O Abu Sufyan, on what basis did you say this?” He replied, “Because Allah says: ‘But My Word has come to pass.’ [al-Sajdah 32:13] Nothing that is from Allah can be created.”
This was likewise explained by Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Nuʿaym ibn Ḥammād, al-Hasan ibn al-Sabbāḥ al-Bazzār, and ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Yaḥyā al-Makkī al-Kinānī.
