335 — Ahmad ibn ʿUbayd al-Wasiti informed us: ʿAli ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Mubashshir informed us: Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us: Wakiʿ ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us. Also, Ahmad informed us: ʿAli narrated to us: Ahmad narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, from Ribʿi ibn Hirash, from Hudhayfah, who said:
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) retired to his bed, he would say: “O Allah, in Your name I die and I live.” When he awoke, he would say: “All praise is due to Allah, who has brought us to life after causing us to die; and to Him is the resurrection.” ⦗233⦘
Al-Bukhari and Muslim transmitted it, and their wording is identical.
٣٣٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ , عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ , عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ قَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا» . وَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ قَالَ: «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَمَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ» ⦗٢٣٣⦘. أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَمُسْلِمٌ، وَلَفْظُهُمَا سَوَاءٌ
