Sharh Usul Itiqad Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-Jamaah - Al-Lalakai - (2/218)

“So know that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah.” [Muhammad: 19]

And He, Most High, says: “Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord: there is no god worthy of worship except Him. And turn away from the polytheists.” [al-An‘am: 106]

And He, Most High, says: “We never sent a messenger before you without revealing to him: ‘There is no god worthy of worship except Me, so worship Me.’” [al-Anbiya’: 25]

Thus, in this verse Allah informed His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that the prophets before him came to know tawhid through transmitted revelation and divine inspiration.

And the Most High says: “Say, ‘If I go astray, I only go astray to my own loss; but if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, Ever-Near.’” [Saba’: 50]

Abraham also inferred, from His flawless and perfectly ordered acts,

: ﴿فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ﴾ [محمد: ١٩] . وَقَالَ ﵎: ﴿اتَّبِعْ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ﴾ [الأنعام: ١٠٦] . وَقَالَ ﵎: ﴿وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدُونِ﴾ [الأنبياء: ٢٥] . فَأَخْبَرَ اللَّهُ نَبِيَّهُ ﷺ فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ أَنَّ بِالسَّمْعِ وَالْوَحْيِ عَرَفَ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ قَبْلَهُ التَّوْحِيدَ. وَقَالَ تَعَالَى: ﴿قُلْ إِنْ ضَلَلْتُ فَإِنَّمَا أَضِلُّ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَإِنِ اهْتَدَيْتُ فَبِمَا يُوحِي إِلَيَّ رَبِّي إِنَّهُ سَمِيعٌ قَرِيبٌ﴾ [سبأ: ٥٠] . وَقَدِ اسْتَدَلَّ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بِأَفْعَالِهِ الْمُحْكَمَةِ الْمُتْقَنَةِ
