316 — Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn al-Tawji informed us: Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Abbas al-Tammar narrated to us; Abd al-Aziz ibn Mu‘awiyah narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Sulami narrated to us; Bakr ibn al-Faraj Abu al-Ala narrated to us, saying: I heard Sufyan ibn Uyaynah say:
“The Sunnah consists of ten matters. Whoever possesses them has completed the Sunnah, and whoever abandons any one of them has abandoned the Sunnah: affirming the divine decree; giving precedence to Abu Bakr and Umar; the Basin; the intercession; the Scale; the Bridge; that faith consists of speech and action; that the Quran is the speech of Allah; the punishment of the grave; and the resurrection on the Day of Resurrection. Do not make a categorical attestation concerning any Muslim.”
