288—Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn al-Qasim al-Dabbi and al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us; they said: Isma‘il ibn Muhammad informed us; he said: Ahmad ibn Mansur narrated to us; he said: ‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us; he said: Ma‘mar informed us, from Ayyub, who said:

“Whenever Abu Qilabah recited this verse:

‘Indeed, those who took the calf for worship will be afflicted by wrath from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world. Thus do We recompense those who fabricate lies.’ [al-A‘raf 7:152]

Abu Qilabah would say, ‘This is the recompense of every fabricator of lies until the Day of Resurrection: Allah will humiliate him.’”
