2801 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān informed us; ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Baghawī related to us, saying: “Suwayd ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, saying: ‘Sawwār ibn Muṣʿab al-Hamdānī narrated to us…’”
2802 – Muhammad [ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān] likewise reported: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Baghawī related to us, saying: “Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb narrated to us, saying: ‘Sawwār ibn Muṣʿab, from Abū al-Jaḥḥāf, from Muḥammad, in the narration of Suwayd ibn ʿAlī, from Fāṭimah bint ʿAlī, from Umm Salamah, the Prophet’s wife—may Allah be pleased with her—who said:
‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with me when Fāṭimah entered, accompanied by ʿAlī. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his head and said, “Rejoice, O ʿAlī! You and your true followers will be in Paradise—except those who merely claim it.”
‘In the wording preserved by Ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb he added: “Among those who make this claim are people who plait Islam together and then spit it out ⦗1541⦘”—he repeated this three times. “They recite the Quran, yet it does not pass beyond their collar-bones. They bear a nickname; they are called the Rāfiḍah. If you encounter them, fight them, for they associate partners with Allah.”
‘ʿAlī asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what sign will distinguish them?” He replied, “They neither attend Friday prayer nor join the congregation, and they malign the early generations.”’
