2795 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allāh informed us; Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruyānī related to us, saying: “Nasr ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; he said: ‘Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from Ḥ—’ ”
2796 – Aḥmad ibn ʿUbayd also told me; he said: “Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us.” Nasr said: “Muḥammad ibn Hishām narrated to us; he said: ‘Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from Abū Mūsā, from al-Ḥasan, from Abū Bakrah that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—ascended the pulpit with al-Ḥasan beside him. He would turn once to the people and once to him, saying: ‘This son of mine is a leader, and perhaps Allah will bring reconciliation through him between two groups of Muslims.’ ” The wording transmitted by both chains is identical. It is also recorded by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
