2787 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; he said: Yaḥyā ibn Muḥammad ibn Saʿid narrated to us; he said: al-Ḥusayn ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to us; he said: Ibn al-Mubārak narrated to us; he said: Hishām ibn ʿUrwah narrated to us, from a man, from ʿUrwah, who said:

“Aʿishah wrote to Muʿāwiyah:

‘Now then, fear Allah. If you fear Allah, He will suffice you against the people; but if you fear the people, they will avail you nothing against Allah.’”
