2779 – ʿAlī ibn ʿUmar narrated to us; he said: Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; he said: ʿAbbās ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Yaḥyā al-Marwazī, who had settled in al-Dujayl, narrated to us; he said: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh al-Ḥimṣī narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “A man from the people of Paradise will now come in through this door.” Muʿāwiyah entered. The next day he said the same, and Muʿāwiyah entered again. On the third day he repeated it, and Muʿāwiyah entered once more. A man asked, “O Messenger of Allah, is it this one?” He replied, “It is this one.”
Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “You are of me, Muʿāwiyah, and I am of you. You will crowd with me at the gate of Paradise like these two.” He held together his index and middle fingers.
