2777 – Al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿUmar narrated to us. He said: Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad narrated to us. He said: al-Ḥasan ibn ʿArafah narrated to us. He said: Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, from Layth ibn Saʿd, from Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ, from Yūnus ibn Sayf, from al-Ḥārith ibn Ziyād—one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—who reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for Muʿāwiyah, saying: “O Allah, teach him the Book and arithmetic, and protect him from punishment.”
