He said: Muḥammad ibn Shuʿayb ibn Shābūr narrated to us. He said: Marwān ibn Janāḥ, from Yūnus ibn Maysarah ibn Ḥalbas al-Ḥubulānī, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bishr:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ consulted Abū Bakr and ʿUmar about a certain matter, and they replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, “Call Muʿāwiyah for me.”
Abū Bakr and ʿUmar became upset and said, “Are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and two men from Quraysh not sufficient to carry out the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ repeated, “Call Muʿāwiyah for me.”
When Muʿāwiyah arrived and stood before him, the Prophet ﷺ said, “Entrust your affairs to him, for he is strong and trustworthy.”
