2768 – ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Zādhān informed us; Ishāq ibn Muḥammad al-Qazwīnī informed us; ʿAlī ibn Ḥarb narrated to us; Ibn Fuḍayl, on the authority of Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—said: She was once mentioned in the presence of a man who then reviled her. Someone said to him, “Are you insulting your own mother?” He replied, “She is not my mother.” When this reached her, she said, “He has spoken the truth: I am the Mother of the Believers, but I am no mother to the disbelievers.”
