2739 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaʿqūb narrated to us and said: “Muhammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruwayānī narrated to us; he said: ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; he said: Abū Aḥmad narrated to us—[followed by a second chain].
2740 – And Ahmad ibn ʿUbayd likewise told us; he said: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Mubashshir told us; he said: Ahmad ibn Sinān told us; he said: Abū Aḥmad al-Zubayrī told us; he said: Isrāʾīl related from Abū Isḥāq, from Hāniʾ ibn Hāniʾ, from ʿAlī, who said:
“Al-Hasan ibn ʿAlī most closely resembled the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the head down to the chest, while al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī most resembled him from the chest downward.”
In the version transmitted by ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī it reads: “Among all people, the one who most looked like the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the chest up was al-Hasan ibn ʿAlī, and the one who most looked like the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the chest down was al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī.”
