2733 – ʿĪsā ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Baghawī narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Ḥassān al-Samtī narrated to us; he said: Sayf ibn Muḥammad narrated to us, from his maternal uncle Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Ḥabbah ibn Juwayn, from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, who said:
“While I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a courtyard that belonged to Abū Ṭālib, he appeared above us. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he said, ‘Uncle, will you not come down and pray with us?’ He replied, ‘My nephew, ⦗1505⦘ I certainly know that you are upon the truth, but I am reluctant to prostrate lest my backside be raised above me. However, go down, O Jaʿfar, and stand as the wing of your cousin.’
“So Jaʿfar came down and prayed to the left of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet finished the prayer he turned to Jaʿfar and said, ‘Indeed, Allah has joined you with two wings with which you will fly in Paradise, just as you completed the wing of your cousin.’”
