2731 – ʿĪsā narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Dāwūd ibn ʿAmr narrated to us; he said: Ibn Abī al-Zinād narrated to us, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, who told me from my father, from ʿĀʾishah, who said:
“My nephew, I witnessed something remarkable in the way the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) revered his uncle. The Messenger of Allah would sometimes be taken by a sharp pain in his side. One day it struck him so fiercely that he lost consciousness. We feared for him, and people hurried to him in alarm. Thinking he was suffering from pleurisy, we forced a medicinal mixture down his throat. When Allah relieved him and he regained consciousness, he realized what we had done and felt the trace of the medicine. He then said ⦗1504⦘: ‘You thought Allah had empowered it over me! By the One in whose hand my soul rests, no one in this house shall escape having the medicine forced upon him—except my uncle.’ So I saw them administering it to the people, one man after another.”
Al-Bukhārī cited this report as corroborating evidence.
