2728 – ʿĪsā ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Baghawī narrated to us; he said: Dāwūd ibn ʿAmr narrated to us; he said: Ibn Abī al-Zinād narrated to us, from Mūsā ibn ʿUqbah. Ibn Manīʿ added: Dāwūd also narrated to us on another occasion from Ibn Abī al-Zinād, from ⦗1503⦘ Muḥammad ibn ʿUqbah, who said: Abū Rushdīn Kurayb, the freedman of Ibn ʿAbbās, said:

“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to honor al-ʿAbbās with the same reverence a son shows his father. Allah singled out al-ʿAbbās with this special favor among all people, for it is not proper for a Prophet to venerate anyone except a parent or an uncle.”
