2723 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaʿqūb reported to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Rūyānī reported to us; he said: Abū Kurayb reported to us; he said: Muḥāḍir narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash.

And Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān reported to us; he said: Yaḥyā ibn Muḥammad ibn Ṣāʿid narrated to us; he said: Abū Hishām narrated to us; he said: Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Sabrah al-Nakhaʿī, from Muḥammad ibn Kaʿb al-Quraẓī, from al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, who said:

“O Messenger of Allah, why is it that when we approach the Quraysh we find them talking, yet as soon as we arrive they cut their conversation short?” He replied, “By Allah, faith will not enter the heart of any one of them until he loves you for Allah’s sake and for your kinship to me.” ⦗1501⦘
