Sharh Usul Itiqad Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-JamaahAl-Lalakai

2718 – ʿĪsā ibn ʿAlī reported to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Baghawī reported to us; he said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿĀʾishah narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Ziyād narrated to us; he said: Ṣadaqah ibn al-Muthannā narrated to us; he said: Rabāḥ ibn al-Ḥārith related it to me.
And Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yaʿqūb said: Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruwayānī reported to us; he said: ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; he said: Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān narrated to us; he said: Ṣadaqah ibn al-Muthannā narrated to us; he said: Riyāḥ ibn al-Ḥārith related to me:

Al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah was sitting in the Great Mosque, with the people of Kūfah to his right and left. A man named Saʿīd ibn Zayd arrived; al-Mughīrah greeted him and seated him at the foot of his couch. Then another man from Kūfah approached, faced al-Mughīrah, and started hurling abuse. Saʿīd said, ‘O Mughīrah, do you not hear? The Companions of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—are being reviled in your presence, yet you neither object nor intervene!

‘I testify before the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—that my two ears heard and my heart retained from him—and I would never attribute to him a falsehood for which he would question me when I meet him—that I heard him say:
“Abū Bakr is in Paradise; ʿUmar is in Paradise; ʿUthmān is in Paradise; ʿAlī is in Paradise; Ṭalḥah is in Paradise; al-Zubayr is in Paradise; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf is in Paradise; and Saʿd ibn Mālik is in Paradise.”
As for the ninth believer—were I willing to name him, I could do so.’

The people of the mosque crowded round him, pleading, ‘O Companion of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—who is the ninth?’
He answered ⦗1496⦘, ‘You have adjured me by Allah. By Allah the Almighty, I am the ninth of the believers, and the Messenger of Allah is the tenth.’ He then reinforced it with an oath: ‘By Allah, one single occasion in which a man accompanied the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—his face covered with dust, is better than the entire lifetime of any one of you, even if he were to live to the age of Noah.’

٢٧١٨ - أنا عِيسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: أنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، قَالَ: نا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: نا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رَبَاحُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ح وَأنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، قَالَ: أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ الرُّويَانِيُّ، قَالَ: نا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: نا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، قَالَ: نا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رِيَاحُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ كَانَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَكْبَرِ، وَعِنْدَهُ أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يُدْعَى سَعِيدَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، فَحَيَّاهُ الْمُغِيرَةُ وَأَجْلَسَهُ عِنْدَ رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْمُغِيرَةَ، فَسَبَّ وَسَبَّ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُغِيرَةُ أَلَا تَسْمَعُ؟ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، يُسَبُّونَ عِنْدَكَ لَا تُنْكِرُ وَلَا تُغَيِّرُ؟ أَنَا أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ أُذُنَايَ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَكْذِبُ عَلَيْهِ كَذِبًا يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْهُ إِذَا لَقِيتُهُ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعُمَرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعُثْمَانُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعَلِيٌّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَطَلْحَةُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَالزُّبَيْرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَسَعْدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ» ، وَتَاسِعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أُسَمِّيَهُ لَسَمَّيْتُهُ. قَالَ: فَرَجَّ أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ يُنَاشِدُونَهُ: يَا صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنِ التَّاسِعُ؟ قَالَ ⦗١٤٩٦⦘: نَاشَدْتُمُونِي بِاللَّهِ، وَاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنَا تَاسِعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ الْعَاشِرُ. ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَ ذَلِكَ يَمِينًا، وَاللَّهِ لَمَشْهَدٌ شَهِدَهُ رَجُلٌ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُغَبِّرُ وَجْهَهُ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ عُمْرِ أَحَدِكُمْ، وَلَوْ عُمِّرَ عُمْرَ نُوحٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ
