2707 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaʿqūb reported to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruwayānī told us; he said: Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; he said: my uncle narrated to us; he said: al-Mundhir ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Ḥizāmī, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwa, from his father, from ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Zubayr, reported that:
On the Day of the Trench, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Who will bring us intelligence about the enemy?” Al-Zubayr mounted his horse and, out of all the people, returned with their news. He did that two or three times. Each time al-Zubayr rode out, the Prophet, peace be upon him, declared, “Every prophet has a devoted disciple (ḥawārī), and my disciple is al-Zubayr, the son of my aunt.”
He added: On that very day the Prophet, peace be upon him, joined both his father and mother in supplication for him, saying, “May my father and mother be ransomed for you,” while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is still more gracious and more excellent.
