2706 – ʿAlī ibn ʿUmar reported to us; he said: Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad told us; he said: ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd Allāh told us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf narrated, from Sufyān, from Manṣūr, from Ibrāhīm, who said ⦗1490⦘:

“Bishr ibn Jurmuz came to ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, who rebuffed him and remarked, ‘This is how people under tribulation are treated.’ ʿAlī replied, ‘May a stone fill your mouth! I hope that I, Ṭalḥah, and al-Zubayr will be among those of whom Allah has said: ‘We will strip away whatever rancor is in their hearts; [they will be] brothers, reclining on couches, facing one another’ (Qur’an 15:47).”
