2693 – Ahmad reported to us; Muhammad reported to us; Ahmad ibn Abi Khaythamah narrated to us; he said: ‘Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us; Asbat narrated, from al-Suddi, who said:

‘Abd Allah ibn Hasan said to me, “O Suddi, tell us about our partisans who are with you in Kufa.” I replied, “There is a group who claim to love you and who assert that souls transmigrate from one body to another.” He said to me, “O Suddi, those people are lying; they are not of us, and we are not of them.” I said, “We also have some who attach themselves to you and allege that knowledge is inscribed ⦗1485⦘ in your hearts.” He answered, “O Suddi, those are not of us, and we are not of them. O Suddi, whoever from among us goes to the jurists and keeps their company becomes knowledgeable, but whoever does not go to them remains ignorant among them.”
