- ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ahmad al-Muqriʾ related to us; al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismaʿil related to us; Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Qurad narrated to us, from Sharik, from Jabir, from Abū Jaʿfar Muhammad ibn ʿAlī, from his father ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn, who said:
“Whoever—whether from among us, the Prophet’s Household (Ahl al-Bayt), or anyone else—claims that obedience to him is divinely obligatory upon the servants has lied about us, and we disown him. I therefore warn against making such a claim for anyone other than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and those vested with authority after him.”
٢٦٨٤ - أنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمُقْرِئُ، أنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ: نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ قُرَادٍ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ قَالَ: مَنْ زَعَمَ مِنَّا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ أَنَّ طَاعَتَهُ مُفْتَرَضَةٌ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ، فَقَدْ كَذَبَ عَلَيْنَا، وَنَحْنُ مِنْهُمْ بَرَاءٌ فَأُحَذِّرُ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، وَلِأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ
