- ʿUbayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad related to us; he said: Ahmad ibn Ishaq al-Anmaṭi informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿAli … said: Abu Bakr—meaning Ibn Abi Shaybah—narrated to us; he said: Wakiʿ narrated to us, from Nuʿaym ibn Hakim, from Abu Maryam, who said:
“I heard ʿAli say: ‘Two kinds of people will be ruined because of me: one who goes to extremes in loving me and one who goes to extremes in hating me.’”
٢٦٨٠ - أنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَنْمَاطِيُّ، قَالَ: نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ. . . . قَالَ: نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: نا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ: يَهْلِكُ فِيَّ رَجُلَانِ: مُفْرِطٌ فِي حِبِّي، وَمُفْرِطٌ فِي بُغْضِي
