Al-Qāsim ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; he said: ʿAbbās ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Bishr narrated to us; he said: ʿUthmān ibn Ḥakīm al-Anṣārī narrated to us, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr—or from ʿIkrimah—on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: “It is not proper for anyone to send ṣalāh (prayers of blessing) upon anyone except the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.” ⦗1479⦘

The same report was also transmitted by Sufyān al-Thawrī, Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth, and others, from ʿUthmān on the authority of ʿIkrimah, and that is the sound version; the mention of Saʿīd is a mistake. Allah knows best what is correct.
