- ʿIsa ibn ʿAli related to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi related to us; he said: Hudbah ibn Khalid narrated to us; he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas:
A man once said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), “O best of us and son of our best! O our master and son of our master!”
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “People, keep to your customary speech and do not let Satan entice you. Put me only where Allah has placed me: I am Allah’s servant and His Messenger.”
٢٦٧٥ - أنا عِيسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: أنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، قَالَ: نا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ: يَا خَيْرَنَا، وَابْنَ خَيْرِنَا، وَيَا سَيِّدَنَا، وَابْنَ سَيِّدِنَا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، قُولُوا بِقَوْلِكُمْ، وَلَا يَسْتَهْوِيَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ، أَنْزِلُونِي حَيْثُ أَنْزَلَنِي اللَّهُ، أَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ»
