2657. Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿImrān related to us; ʿAbdullāh ibn Sulaymān told us; he said: Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥasan al-Miqsamī narrated to us; he said: Ḥajjāj ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; he said: Ḥammād ibn Salamah, from ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakrah, said:

We travelled with Ziyād as a delegation to Muʿāwiyah. When we arrived and were admitted into his presence, he said to my father, “Abū Bakrah, tell us a ḥadith you heard directly from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” My father replied, “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘The caliphate will last for thirty years; after that it will be kingship.’” He then mentioned a few other words.
