2613 – ʿAli ibn Ahmad ibn ʿUmar ibn Hafs related to us; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Jaʿfar ibn Muhammad ibn al-Azhar reported to us; he said: al-ʿAlāʾī said: A man from the descendants of Salama ibn Kuhayl told me; he said: Hurayth ibn Abi Matar narrated to us; I heard Salama say: “I kept company with al-Musayyab ibn Najaba al-Fazari in this very mosque for twenty years, together with a large number of the Shiʿa. Never did I hear any one of them speak of any Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except in good terms, and the only matter they discussed concerned ʿAli and ʿUthman.”
