2605 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn al-ʿAbbās related to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah ⦗1448⦘ ibn Muhammad al-Baghawī narrated to us; he said: ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿUmar al-Qawārīrī related to us; he said: Khālid al-Zayyāt narrated, from ʿAwn ibn Abī Juḥayfa, who said: “My father served in ʿAlī’s security force and used to stand beneath his pulpit. He said, ‘I heard ʿAlī say, “The best members of this ummah after its Prophet are Abū Bakr and ʿUmar.”’”
