2604 – Aḥmad ibn ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad related to us; al-Ḥusayn ibn Ḥumayd ibn al-Rabīʿ narrated to us; he said: Ḥumayd ibn al-Rabīʿ narrated to us; he said: Hushaym informed us; Ḥuṣayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā, who said: ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb declared, “The best of this ummah after its Prophet is Abū Bakr. Whoever says otherwise after this statement of mine is a fabricator, and upon him is the burden that befalls one who lies.”
