2600 – ʿAlī ibn ʿUmar narrated to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Mutūnī narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Sulaymān ibn Bilāl narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said:

“We used to rank the Companions during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, putting Abu Bakr first, then ʿUmar, and then ʿUthmān.”

Al-Bukhārī also recorded it.
