2584 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar reported to us; he said: Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; he said: al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Bakrī narrated to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥārith narrated to us; he said: Abū al-Ḥasan, from Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ, from Abū Ḥuṣayn, related that ʿAlī said:

“If I were certain that Banū Umayya would rid themselves of what they harbor inside, I would swear fifty oaths—one after another—between the Corner and the Station that I neither killed ʿUthmān nor colluded in his killing.”
