2582 – Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿImrān related to us; he said: Abū Bakr ibn Mūsā ibn Mujāhid narrated to us; he said: ʿAbbās ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; he said: Khalaf ibn Tamīm narrated to us; he said: ʿAṭṭāf ibn Khālid narrated to us; he said: Jaʿfar ibn Burqān, from Maymūn ibn Mihrān, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar:
“When ʿAlī came to ʿUthmān during the siege, he sent word to him, ‘I have come to support you.’ ʿUthmān returned greetings and replied, ‘I have no need.’ ʿAlī thereupon removed his turban and threw it into the courtyard where ʿUthmān was, reciting:
‘That he may know that I did not betray him in his absence’ (Yūsuf 12:52).”
٢٥٨٢ - أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: نا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: نا خَلَفُ بْنُ تَمِيمٍ، قَالَ: نا عَطَّافُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: نا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ، عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ " أَنَّ عَلِيًّا أَتَى عُثْمَانَ وَهُوَ مَحْصُورٌ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ: «إِنِّي قَدْ جِئْتُ لِأَنْصُرَكَ» . فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ بِالسَّلَامِ، وَقَالَ: «لَا حَاجَةَ لِي» . فَأَخَذَ عَلِيٌّ عِمَامَتَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ، فَأَلْقَاهَا فِي الدَّارِ الَّتِي فِيهَا عُثْمَانُ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: ﴿«ذَلِكَ لِيَعْلَمَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَخُنْهُ بِالْغَيْبِ» ﴾ [يوسف: ٥٢]
