2574 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar reported: Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad told us; he said: Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Mihrān informed me; he said: Abū Nuʿaym narrated to us; from Misʿar; from Ibn ʿAwn; from Muḥammad ibn Ḥāṭib; from ʿAlī, who said:

“ʿUthmān was among those of whom Allah has said: ‘Those who believe and do righteous deeds …’—up to His words ⦗1434⦘: ‘then they were God-fearing and excelled; and Allah loves those who excel.’” (Qur’an 5:93)
