2564 – Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr narrated to us; he said: al-Husayn ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; he said: Husayn ibn ʿAli narrated to us; he said: Yaʿqub ibn Ishaq al-Hadrami narrated to us; he said: Fatimah bint ʿAbd al-Rahman al-Yashkuriyyah narrated to us, from her mother, who said:
I went in to see ʿAʾishah—my aunt had sent me to her—and I said, “Mother of the Believers, what do you think of the people? They have gone to extremes against ʿUthman, reviling him and calling down curses upon him.” She replied, “May Allah curse whoever curses him. I myself saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with his back resting against my chest while Gabriel was bringing him revelation, and ʿUthman was seated on his right as the Prophet kept saying, ‘Write, ʿUthman.’ No one would have been granted such a position with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except someone esteemed by Allah and by His Prophet ﷺ.”
