2550 – Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī ibn Ḥāmid al-Ṭabarī reported to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn al-Sarrī narrated to us; he said: Yaʿqūb ibn Sufyān narrated to us; he said: Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Uways narrated to us; he said: my father related to me; he said: Muḥammad ibn Muslim informed me that Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyab told him, from Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ ⦗1423⦘, that he sent word to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf: “Raise your head and attend to the people’s affairs.” ʿAbd al-Raḥmān replied, “No one will take charge of this matter after ʿUmar without the people censuring him.”
